Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby trailer has finally arrived, and it dazzles in every aspect. I mean, it's a little strange and overtly theatrical, but I have faith in Lurhmann's quirkiness and artistic vision; his cinematography, as per usual, is flawless. This is the man behind Moulin Rouge! for crying out loud!

It's always dream-like at the start....

The cast, as expected, is stunning. Literally. Carey Mulligan looks gorgeous and chic, and Leonardo Dicaprio -can't believe I'm saying this- is so handsome. I always knew he would make a great Gatsby. Hehe.

I have never found him so attractive... and dreamy.

It's only a trailer, I don't want to bore you with a shot-by-shot analysis, but I appreciate Luhrmann's approach. There has never been an adequate adaptation of the novel; its' depth and nuances have never been realised on screen. So, no pressure, but I'm banking on this film because whilst Luhrmann loves to bedazzle with visuals, he is a refreshing storyteller - in every sense of the word. If anyone can craft the American dream and shatter it to pieces - it's Luhrmann.

Even Tobey Maguire looks dashing, that Luhrmann is a genius!

Greed, lust, vanity... the trailer shows all, but the film's true triumph shall lie with its devilish denouement. If the film ends as a beautiful NIGHTMARE, it will find itself at the Oscars. Mark my words.

P.S. I'd like to clearly state that Luhrmann's Australia is a visually pleasing melodrama, and that we should stop bullying it. Love y'all.
